6,975 = All votes cast in Cambridge March 6 in the Democratic, Republican, and Green Party/Rainbow Party primaries.
The following are total votes and percentages of all votes cast, by party. Write-in candidates within party primaries, blank ballots, and no-preference votes are not included, so the the totals and percentages do not total up.
DEMOCRATIC (only Obama on slate, so only committed voters came out; total votes cast for Democrats = 4,886).
Obama: 4,489, 64% (all votes cast, not just Dem; ditto with below percentages)
REPUBLICAN (total votes cast for Republicans = 2,023).

Run for President
The election season is upon us. Half of all Cantabrigians are reading political blogs, half have put their TV sets into storage for the season, and some unknown number are dreaming again about getting elected President.
If you want to get onto the Massachusetts primary ballot with the GOP, Democrats, or Green-Rainbow Parties--you have a week to file 2,500 signatures. If you can gather enough signatures of Massachusetts voters who are in your party or are independents, and deliver them by December 23rd, you can get onto the March 6 state ballot. Responding to Occupy Harvard’s “We are the 99%” demonstration that interrupted his Harvard talk last month, Newt Gingrich proclaimed “We are all 100%. We are Americans.” The audience applauded robustly. But what was the Harvard ID-only audience applauding? Gingrich’s gracious embrace of the demonstrators? New Citizen Journalist: Chris Herold
Christian is a native of Washington, D.C., where his parents moved after meeting in Cambridge in the 1950s. While in D.C., Christian started a program that took disabled children on cultural outings, performed with a comedy group, and led teen discussion groups. Via Allston and Somerville, he moved in the mid-80s to a Cambridge rent-controlled studio on Broadway at Ellery. He reported for the Middlesex News and the Dedham Daily Transcript, taught creative drama in after-school programs,and directed plays with the Animist Theater Company, among other creative pursuits. read more...
