Although franchise fees from the Cambridge cable provider,
Comcast, fund CCTV’s core activities and operations,
CCTV raises additional funds each year to support our special outreach programs
and initiatives.
Grants
In 2006, CCTV raised approximately $54,500 in grants
to support our general operations and special outreach activities.
CCTV received $17,700 through the Massachusetts Cultural
Council’s Operating Support program.
The Betty Furdon Fund provided $10,000
to launch a campaign to promote our three community channels.
Grant makers provide critical support to our youth
program, and in 2006, CCTV was able to expand our annual Summer Media
Institute into a year round media production and work experience
program. The Youth Media Program was made possible by: the
Cambridge Community Foundation, Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation,
Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment
Program, Mayor’s Summer Work and Learning, Massachusetts Cultural
Council’s YouthReach Initiative, Mayor’s Fall Employment
Program and the Rindge School of the Technical Arts Work Study Program.
The Tutorial for Non-English Speakers, Computers
for Seniors, and general drop-in times in computerCENTRAL
offer access to computer technology and the internet to Cambridge’s
underserved communities. Thanks go to the Cambridge Savings
Charitable Foundation for supporting these programs in
2006.
Sponsorships
CCTV seeks sponsorships from
local businesses to support our outreach programs and channels.
25 businesses sponsored our annual Backyard BBQ fundraiser, which raised over
$20,000 for CCTV’s outreach programs.
Channel Sponsorships totaling $1,950 supported CCTV’s
channels.
Both BBQ and Channel Sponsors receive recognition on
the electronic bulletin board on CCTV’s channels. In 2006,
CCTV unveiled new Sponsorship Packages that include additional benefits,
such as the production of a 30-second spot that is played on our
channels
Friends of CCTV
Each year, CCTV solicits funds from individual donors through the Friends of CCTV. In 2006, CCTV raised $6,650 through the campaign.
