The Programming Department is responsible for the cablecast operations of CCTV’s 3 public access channels, Channels 9, 10 and 22 on the Cambridge cable system. All programming cablecast on Channel 9 is also streamed live to the entire world via CCTV’s website!

2006 was a tremendous year for the Programming Department with over 16,000 program submissions and over 18,000 hours of programming on our 3 channels.

One of the biggest challenges faced by the Programming Department has been promoting our programs and programming schedule so that the public (viewers) know what programs are on the channels, when they are on and what topics they cover, as well as how to contact the producers.

In the last year, with support from the Betty Furdon Fund, CCTV has been reaching out to members, producers and viewers through surveys and focus groups, to get their thoughts and opinions on ways CCTV can improve its programming promotion.

As a result of the suggestions we received, we decided to make schedule changes to the 3 channels, and to the ways that we promote the programming. Channel 9 was the first to receive a schedule update to allow more programs to be shown later into the night and early moning. Channel 10 and 22 updates will come in 2007, so be sure to stay tuned.

We have found that the best vehicle to disseminate information about CCTV’s programs and producers is through our website. We are currently developing ways to use the site to make more programming information available to viewers.

CCTV’s Programming Department is hard at work to bring Cambridge residents more original local programs. Remember that Channels 9, 10 and 22 are your community channels so please keep sending us your feedback, thoughts and comments, as it helps us better serve your needs.
