by Sarah Cortes - The Egyptian Women's junior squash team narrowly edged out the US team to win its fifth world championship title Saturday. In a tiebreaking team final, Egyptian Nouran el Torky took the first match from American Sabrina Sobhy, 3-0. However, in the second of three matches, former World junior individual champion Amanda Sobhy prevailed over new 2011 World junior individual champion Nour el Tayeb, 3-1.

With the score split 1-1 in a best of 3 match-up, it was all up to Olivia Blatchford, 18, for the US team, and Nour el Sherbini, 15, 2009 women's junior individual champion, for Egypt, winner take all. A win would bring the Americans their first world junior title ever in the sport. For the Egyptians, it meant retaining their four-time title.

In a tense match, the score stayed even in the first game, but el Sherbini edged out Blatchford 11-8 at the last minute. In the second game, Blatchford started strong. El Sherbini fought back and Blatchford eventually succumbed 3-11. In the third, el Sherbini slowed down, limped and then took an injury break. It began to look like the US might win on a default, a disappointing outcome all around. However, an injured el Sherbini came back on court and squeezed out a final third game to win the title for Egypt 11-8 and 3-0 overall.
